Annual Seed Sale

Save the Date!

Puget Sound Restoration Fund’s Annual Shellfish Seed Sale

Saturday June 18th,  2022  |  8:30–11:00 AM  |  low tide: 1:37 pm (-2.46 ft.)

Greetings Shellfish Gardeners!  Spring is upon us, which means daylight low tides are finally here. It’s time to get your shellfish gardens ready for planting new seed: sort and split your oysters and take inventory of lines and gear. We will email pre-order forms the first week of May. If you know of others who are interested in purchasing seed, have them email (wendy@restorationfund.org) for a form. Also, we are excited that KUMOS will be available this year! See you in June!

Whiskies for Wildlife

Our 10th Annual Whiskies For Wildlife event, presented by Bainbridge Organic Distillers, is back!

Join us September 24th, 2022 for this divine event featuring Scottish single malt whiskies and world-class single malt, grain, blended and antique whiskies from Scotland, Ireland, Japan, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Taiwan, the United States of America and more.

Sumptuous small plates devised especially for this event by the Manor House’s Executive Chef, Joe Benish, to complement the whiskey offerings, will be served at several stations throughout the hall and patio overlooking beautiful Rich Passage. There will, of course, also be a raw oyster bar with fresh, local Port Madison Petites harvested that morning. It will be an afternoon to remember!

This event always sells out, so be sure to buy your tickets soon after they go on sale on July 11th at 12AM.

All proceeds benefit Puget Sound Restoration Fund, for which we are so grateful.

Oyster New Year

It’s a joy every year to be swept up in the great celebration of Northwest oysters. As the cloudy, cool fall weather returns to Puget Sound, the icy north Pacific Ocean current entices shellfish into their prime, creating a crisp, firm texture and clean taste characteristics.

Hats off to Elliott’s Oyster House for finding a way to keep the Oyster New Year tradition alive these last 2 years during the pandemic, most recently through a special oyster-centric menu in November 2021, as a benefit for PSRF. We hope for the grandest of Oyster New Years in 2022 – and will post here as we have more details.

Typically, Elliott’s Oyster House hosts this amazing event in November, to celebrate the annual return of the peak shellfish season! It is a sell-out event and the biggest oyster party on the West Coast, with 30+ varieties of local oysters shucked to order at the 150-foot oyster bar, plus a fresh seafood buffet, live music and more. All proceeds typically benefit us here at Puget Sound Restoration Fund, for which are are so thankful!

Walrus & Carpenter

We look forward to the low-tide picnics in 2023!

Please check back here for details and dates for our next Walrus and Carpenter event in late 2022.  As always, special thanks to the Taylor Shellfish Staff and to Browne Family Vineyards and Gruet NV Sauvage for your constant support of PSRF and this wondrous event!

Hosted by Taylor Shellfish Farms as a benefit for Puget Sound Restoration Fund, the Walrus & Carpenter picnics provide the ultimate oyster-eating experience. The nighttime, low tide picnic takes place by lantern and moonlight at Taylor’s Totten Inlet oyster bed. Icy gusts of wind off the bay invigorate the experience. Take a shucking lesson before dining on these plump, sweet oysters just rousted from their beds. Devour the freshly opened delicacies paired with award-wining “oyster wines” by Browne Family Vineyards and Gruet NV Sauvage served in sparkling Reidel stemware. The perfect blend of magic and madness. As the tide rises, revel in a blazing bonfire and savor a steaming cup of chowder. This is an experience not to be missed.  All proceeds benefit Puget Sound Restoration Fund.
