Experience Kelp! Reverberations at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art
PSRF invites you to immerse yourself in Kelp! Reverberations, an evocative new exhibit at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art that brings together visionary artists and scientists in celebration of the rich ecology and beauty of the kelp forest.
Opening September 26, this interdisciplinary exhibition features:
Sculptural forms crafted from locally foraged bull kelp by PSRF Founder and Director Emeritus Betsy Peabody,
A maze of deep blue and turquoise cyanotype banners by artist and author Josie Iselin, and
A spatialized soundscape evoking the underwater world of kelp, created by sound designer Ken Pearce in collaboration with Canadian composer and sound artist Jonathan Kawchuk, delivered through an innovative soundframe system.
This unique collaboration invites audiences to see, hear, and feel the dynamic life of underwater forests through art, science, and sensory exploration.
Sponsored by Above/Below, Puget Sound Restoration Fund, and Washington Sea Grant, the exhibit runs from September 26 – December 1, 2025. For full details, visit San Juan Islands Museum of Art at www.sjima.org.
